One of the most polarizing objects in the world today is the cell phone. I can’t think of any device in my lifetime that has had more of an impact than a cell phone. And I don’t make this statement lightly.
I want to say thank you to the entire Wayne County Community, all the loyal After 2 Beer Fans and we hope you all enjoy this free community event next weekend. If you would like to donate to our fight against breast cancer please visit https://reidhealthfoundation.org/donate/ and select the designation of BRAvo.
Alright, here goes nothing…. August is my absolute favorite time of the year for one reason and one reason only. BACHELOR IN PARADISE.
This past weekend, After 2 Beers had the privilege of attending the 17th annual Lebowski Fest in Louisville, KY. I have never liked The Big Lebowski. There, I said it. I have tried, you guys; I have really tried. I doubt I will ever like the movie, and you may think that's crazy…”yeah well, that's just like your opinion, man”.
Laughing is literally my favorite thing to do. I even love the sound of other people’s laughter. Specifically, baby giggles even though babies laugh at things that are not remotely funny…. babies are dumb.
In 1982, I had one of the most prolific music moments of my short life. My sister who was 16 years old, brought home a record that would change me forever. That record was Prince’s 1999. If I had an Uncle Chuck that was looking for a new sound, I would have called him.
So why was I afraid to put myself out there? I mean I have literally been talking as long as I can remember.
“Do or do not, there is no try. – Yoda (This is for all you nerds.)
Success isn’t measured by the number of wins you have in your career. Success isn’t measured by the money in your bank account. And success isn’t measured by the number of people that listen to your podcast or that follow your page. Coach P taught me success is measured by the impact you have on the people around you while we are so blessed to be here on this planet.
Perhaps we should invest some budget, creativity, and time into maintaining and marketing some of the pieces of history that will bring individuals into this community from outside Wayne County i.e. Don McBride Stadium. We are the home of the original motion picture screening before an audience, how about a Midwest film festival? How about an interactive museum highlighting the history of Jazz and the individuals and recordings that were captured at Starr Piano & Gennett Records.
